This article contains instructions for current students uploading theses, dissertations,  special project or practicum reports, capstone project reports,  and similar outputs. (If you are a UPOU alumnus, please contact the current Chair of the Program you graduated from.)

To upload your thesis, dissertations, special project or practicum report, capstone project report, and similar output

  1. Review the directions on Getting started on how to create an account, apply for authorization, and make a deposit. However, don't attempt to make a deposit just yet; just familiarize yourself with the instructions.
  2. Read the directions on generating a DOI for your work using Zenodo.
  3. Read the section below, Additional instructions for students depositing their theses, dissertations, and capstone project reports
  4. Revisit and, this time, follow the directions on Getting started to make your deposit.

Additional instructions for students depositing their theses, dissertations, and capstone project reports

When you are starting to upload your work to Zenodo to be issued a DOI, you need to pay particular attention to certain fields, indicated in the screenshots below of  a properly deposited work in Zenodo. (Here's its equivalent in the UPOU Repository.)

  1. Indicate the appropriate publication type:
    1. If you are uploading a graduate thesis or dissertation, make sure the publication type is set to Thesis
    2. Otherwise (e.g., for undergraduate special project reports), choose Report.
  2. Include your supervisor(s) and critic's names (if you have a critic). If you can get their ORCID, include that information.
  3. Under "Additional notes", indicate at what level of study (undergraduate/Masters/PhD). Recommended descriptors include:
    1. "Final Report for Undergraduate Capstone Project"
    2. "Masters Thesis"
    3. "Doctoral Dissertation"
  4. List down UPOU as the community in Zenodo which your report/thesis/dissertation is part of. Once it has been reviewed by the Zenodo curator of the UPOU Community, it will be included in the community.
  5. Under publication date, use the date that you upload the file to Zenodo or the date that your panel approved your thesis, whichever is earlier.
  6. Include keywords that are not present in your abstract or title.
  7. Mention UPOU as the awarding university.
  8. Include the link to the UPOU Repository entry...
  9. ... and list it as an identical deposit.
  10. Finally, verify that the correct license is applied here. If you don't want to use a Creative Commons license, you can type Other (Not Open).
