Getting started with depositing in the UPOU Repository
To include your work in the UPOU Repository, follow these steps:
- Sign up for a UPOU Repository account (you need to do this only once)
- Apply for authorization to deposit work(you need to do this only once)
- Deposit your work in the Repository, which involves doing these supplementary tasks:
- Associating a DOI with your work (and generating one using Zenodo if needed)
- Deciding whether you want to license your work under a Creative Commons license

Why should I upload my works to the institutional repository?
The UPOU Institutional Repository archives the scholarly output of the entire UPOU community. It accepts pre- and post-refereed journal articles, conference proceedings, theses and dissertations, working papers, reports, and datasets. The repository is built on a software solution called DSpace, which is crawlable by Google Scholar and will help members of our academic community gain visibility for their work.
The most exciting part of this is that our students' special project reports, theses, and dissertations can finally gain the visibility they deserve! The Repository helps establish UPOU as a digital-first research institution that generates and co-creates knowledge for the public good.
For more information on the value of institutional repositories, see this white paper by Abbie Starkman-Van Earwage at the University of Arizona, or check out the presentation made by Diego Maranan to the CAC in 2020 (log in using your UPOU email address).
